I am not a veterinarian, but the health of our dogs is very important to us, so I have complied some of the information I have gathered over the years concerning hips, eyes, genetics, and many other areas.  All of this information applies to Aussies, but some of it also applies to all dogs.
OFA and CERF Certificates
There are fourteen (14) common health concerns that plague the Australian Shepherd breed as a whole, some of these require testing and evaluations to be done before breeding. I have also listed the required DNA tests and banks available for Aussies. ASCA requires DNA testing to be done on all adult Aussies, in order to register the litter.

I have listed the concerns and the tests required under Aussie health tests, but here are some of them at a glance, the areas of the body they pertain to, links to the applications or explanations:
Hip and Elbow Dysplasia - Hips and Elbows
Patellar Luxation - Knees
CERF - Eyes
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) - Eyes
Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA) - Eyes
Autoimmune thyroiditis - Thyroid
Congenital Cardiac - Heart
MDR1 - multiple drug resistance gene

For testing requirements and costs go to the Aussie Health Tests page. Prices subject to change without notice.
