What is Hereditary Cataract:
A clouding of the lens (eyes)

Required before breeding according to the USASA Code of Ethics, Breeding Paragraph, line "A". AKC requirements fall under USASA.

There are two places that do this test, the first is Animal Health Trust and the second is Animal Genetics.

1. FIRST PLACE to send samples
Sample Type:
Swab

Samples are sent to:
Animal Health Trust
Lanwades Park
Kentford, Newmarket
Suffolk CB8 7UU.

Application:
Animal Health Trust requires an application (pdf)

Approximate Cost:
£30 pounds (Approximately $47.00 USD)

2. SECOND PLACE to send samples
Sample Type:
Swab

Samples are sent to:
Animal Genetics, Inc.
1336 Timberlane Road
Tallahassee, FL 32312

Application:
Animal Genetics requires an application (pdf)

Approximate Cost:
$45.00 per sample

Minimum Age Requirement:
None

Breeder's Note:
If both parents test clear for Hereditary Cataracts then all puppies from those parents will also be clear of
Hereditary Cataracts.
