What is Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA):
Causes cells in the retina at the back of the eye to degenerate.  Sometimes PRA can be initially seen during a CERF exam, but not always

Required before breeding according to the USASA Code of Ethics, Breeding Paragraph, line "A". AKC requirements fall under USASA.

Breeder's Note:
If both parents test clear for PRA then all puppies from those parents will also be clear of PRA. (see PRA page for breeding stratagies tables) The prcd-PRA tests are done at the same time but prcd is different than PRA please see OptGen for explanation.
